Do Astrology Signs Affect Compatibility?
The Pleasant Skeptic
Can astrology signs impact attraction? Can they affect the long-term success of a relationship or marriage? Anyone with a healthy sense of skepticism would say that the direct answer to these questions is unequivocally "no". They would say that the relative positions of stars, planets, and the like has no bearing on how romantically compatible two people are. And they would be correct on that count. In reality, there is not any scientifically demonstrated evidence that any astrological principles apply in reality whatsoever.
On the other hand, a belief in them is like a belief in anything else: whether it is religion, magic, or Santa Claus. A firm believer is not likely to allow their faith a sincere challenge, nor will they be very pleased with those who choose to confront them with opposing evidence. The primary — in my mind, exclusive —outcome of a belief in these fortune-telling and supernatural systems is their quick ability to separate people of distinct perspectives. Hopefully, this happens as quickly as possible for the eventual happiness of all parties involved.
So is belief in astrology signs (or non-belief, if you are an astrological devotee) a "deal-breaker" for you? If so, you may want to steer clear of dating anyone who holds the views you detest. Generally speaking, this is a wise principle. If you are irritated, even slightly, by something about your prospective partner, you run the risk of developing resentment as the relationship continues. In other words, you are asking for trouble.
Astrology signs, like Ouija boards, tarot, or other light-hearted occult activities, can be fun and harmless. My advice would be to take them with a grain-or several million grains-of salt. If you cannot, well please, for your own sake, only seek out someone who agrees with you. Even in total ignorance of how a Libra's sense of style may clash with a Sagittarius' energy field, we will be fine. I promise.
