Chinese Astrology

The astrological signs are characterized by twelve divisions of the horoscope or the zodiac signs. These twelve signs carry the personality traits of the people who fall in the respective zodiac circle.

Unlike Chinese astrology, the western and Indian astrology link these twelve astrological signs with constellations. The western and Indian astrology focuses on the impact of the movement and rotation of the sun, moon and other planets on these zodiac signs. On the other hand, the Chinese astrology focuses on the patters of time characterized by years, months, and hours. However, these astrological signs have a strong connection to the birth of a person, and this notion is accepted by Western, Indian and Chinese astrological beliefs.

The basic idea of Indian, Western and Chinese astrology is same, and is based on the twelve astrological sings which are sub-divided into four types. The twelve signs can be related to all the three traditions of astrology quite easily.

The western and Indian astrological tradition sub-divide the twelve signs into four elements named as fire, earth, air and water. The twelve zodiac signs are related to each of the elements. The elements of fire and air are symbolic of positive and assertive nature, and are considered as masculine signs, whereas water and earth signs carry the notions of negativity, and reclusiveness. They also hold for feminine symbolism.

 Of the twelve astrological signs, the Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are associated to the fire signs. Fire signs stands as the representation of one's inner desires and imaginative capabilities. It carries the notions of being active, energetic, confident, brilliant, and warm. The people with fire signs are social, friendly, and prosperous. Fire is also the element of determination, heat, and victory. Of all the four elements, the fire feels most comfortable and prosperous with air sign.

Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn belong to the earth signs. Earth is the symbol of environment. Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are related to practical approach towards life, and stability of mind and character. The people with earth sign are resolute, reliable, careful, assertive, possessive, and silent by nature. When combined with other elements, earth undergoes a feeling of suffocation with air, burning sensation when combined with fire. However, a feeling of growth and nourishment arouses when earth is combined with the element of water. All in all, earth is the element of growth and power.

Gemini, Libra and Aquarius belong to the earth sign. Air stands as a symbol of rationality and intellect. The air signs are beholder of thoughtful, intuitive and communicative abilities. The people with air sign are rational, logical, full of life, and optimistic. Air gets a strange feeling of hurdles when combined with water, and a feeling of suffocation with earth. However, the air gets a feeling of immense liveliness and inspiration on combination with fire.

Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces belong to water sign. The element of Water symbolizes human emotions, and love. Water is related to growth, identity, and people with this sign are alluring, perceptive, emotional, kind, and secretive. Water feels most comfortable with earth, and feels reclusive when combined with fire or air. Water sign is symbolic of spirituality.

Thus the four elements, water, air, fire and earth are important in terms of the study and association related to the twelve astrological signs.
